When Did Jeep Get Android Auto?

The latest Jeep SUVs and trucks have Android Auto.

Most Jeeps began getting Android Auto in 2017 and 2018, with the Jeep Compass subcompact SUV among the first to have Android smartphone connectivity.

Wireless smartphone charging and voice recognition are integral to the newer infotainment systems.

Check the corresponding table to see when each Jeep model below has Android Auto.

Meanwhile, drivers on Apple devices may find the post on Jeeps with Apple CarPlay helpful.

Jeep SUVs with Android Auto

#1 Jeep Renegade

The Renegade is a subcompact and Jeep’s smallest SUV; it isn’t the cheapest, but it’s one of the most adventure-ready in the class.

From 2021 onwards, the Jeep Renegade subcompact has had standard Android Auto integration, although none has wireless connectivity.

Jeep Renegade SUVs from 2018 to 2020 had Android Auto only in the more expensive trims.

2017 and older Jeep Renegade models did not support Android Auto.

#2 Jeep Compass

Although it’s still an extra-small SUV, the Compass is slightly larger than the Renegade.

The little Jeep Compass crossover has had standard Android Auto since 2019, with wireless Android smartphone connectivity appearing across all trim levels from 2022 onwards.

The 2017 and 2018 Jeep Compass had Android Auto support in the upper trims like the Limited and Trailhawk, but the base Sport and Latitude did not.

Buyers interested in the used 2016 or older Jeep Compass will be disappointed with the lack of popular features like Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

#3 Jeep Cherokee

This compact SUV’s history has two halves, with 2014 marking its return after over a decade of absence.

The Jeep Cherokee compact SUV began getting Android Auto integration as a standard provision across all trims in 2019 and beyond, although none has wireless connectivity.

Jeep Cherokee models between 2014 and 2018 did not have Android Auto support.

#4 Jeep Wrangler

This compact SUV has earned a reputation as the most iconic off-road warrior with superior capability on rugged terrains.

Despite being one of the most popular SUVs, the Jeep Wrangler only began getting infotainment systems with Android Auto smartphone functionality in the higher trims in 2018 (& beyond), leaving the base Sport without such connectivity.

2023 and newer Jeep Wranglers gained standard Android Auto, although it has yet to go wireless.

Android Auto compatibility is absent from the 2017 and older Jeep Wrangler models.

#5 Jeep Grand Cherokee & Grand Cherokee L

When Jeep added Android Auto support to the Grand Cherokee in 2018, it made the function standard for all models, and the provision remained unchanged for all Grand Cherokee models between 2018 and 2021.

The 2022 midsize two-row Jeep Grand Cherokee had standard Android Auto integration, with the higher trims able to connect wirelessly; wireless Android Auto became standard equipment from 2023 onwards.

2017 and older Grand Cherokee models did not support Android Auto.

The midsize three-row Jeep Grand Cherokee L has had standard wireless Android Auto with the user-friendly Uconnect 5 infotainment interface since its 2021 debut.

#6 Jeep Wagoneer

Since the automaker introduced the full-size three-row Jeep Wagoneer in 2022, the SUV has had wireless Android Auto functionality as a standard provision.

#7 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Like the regular Wagoneer, the more upscale Jeep Grand Wagoneer has had standard wireless Android Auto connectivity from 2022 onwards.

Jeep Truck with Android Auto

#8 Jeep Gladiator

The Jeep Gladiator is the only convertible pickup truck in the midsize class. It beat competitors such as the Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma – both have Android smartphone compatibility – with greater off-road prowess.

The American company has supplied all Jeep Gladiators since 2022 with standard Android Auto connectivity to the Uconnect infotainment system; none can connect wirelessly yet.

If you’re targeting a 2020 or 2021 Jeep Gladiator and want Android Auto support, opt for any trim level except the base Sport or Willys Sport trims – Sport S is the first pricier trim to have Android smartphone compatibility.
