#1 Honda Civic Si (fun & sporty)
The Honda Civic is a famous nameplate renowned for its reliability, fuel economy, and relatively sporty handling in an affordable package.
Although it’s one of the more enjoyable economy cars to drive, the Civic lineup has sportier models still, namely the Civic Si and Civic Type R – both are speedy but livable daily drivers.
While the Type R is the newest and most powerful among the three Civic versions, it is also the most expensive, costing tens of thousand even for older model years.
The used Honda Civic Si, however, is within reach, and it’s sporty and one of the most fun daily drivers with manual transmission under $15,000.
You can opt for a nine or ten-year-old Civic Si with a $15k budget, and the car still has a noticeable performance advantage over the average sedan while remaining relatively frugal on fuel.
Its inline-four engine puts out a punchy 200 horsepower (or thereabout) going as far back as the earliest models – you get a smaller but turbocharged powertrain in post-2016 Civic Si.
