GMC Vehicles w/ Adaptive Cruise Control (All 8 Models)

Adaptive cruise control has been available mostly in luxury vehicles but is now common in many mainstream cars, including GMC.

The GMC SUVs, trucks, and EVs in this post have adaptive cruise control or conventional cruise control system.

Check the corresponding tables to see the relevant model years when the system became available.

Adaptive Cruise Control vs. Cruise Control

The more-basic cruise control in older GMC vehicles helps maintain a steady cruising speed for a relaxing highway drive.

Adaptive cruise control (ACC) enhances the conventional cruise control system by adjusting the vehicle’s speed to match the car ahead, slowing or accelerating accordingly in response to the driver’s set speed.

Newer GMC models have Pro Safety or Pro Safety Plus, a suite of safety features that includes ACC.

Automakers that produce trucks and SUVs with adaptive cruise control include:

Meanwhile, these manufacturers specialize in making capable off-roaders:

GMC SUVs with Adaptive Cruise Control

#1 GMC Terrain

In a small SUV class dominated by all-stars like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, the GMC Terrain can seem mediocre in many aspects.

Still, prospective buyers will be happy to know that all GMC Terrain models have had cruise control since its 2010 debut.

No GMC Terrain has the more-advanced adaptive cruise control, unfortunately.

#2 GMC Acadia

If you need an extra row of seats than the Terrain has, the midsize three-row Acadia will meet your requirement.

Like its smaller sibling, all GMC Acadia models have had cruise control as a standard provision since 2007.

No GMC Acadia models have sophisticated adaptive cruise control.

#3 GMC Yukon

This large SUV is one of the leading models in its class.

All three-row GMC Yukon models from 2001 to 2022 had standard cruise control.

The Denali Ultimate trim of the 2023 GMC Yukon has adaptive cruise control, while other less expensive ones have conventional cruise control.

GMC Trucks with Adaptive Cruise Control

#4 GMC Canyon

For those that don’t need a full-size truck, the midsize GMC Canyon with relatively high towing capacity is a solid pick.

Most GMC Canyon trucks have cruise control, except for the lower trims; unfortunately, no GMC Canyon has adaptive cruise control.

#5 GMC Sierra 1500

With serious competition from full-size Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 – both with available cruise control – the GMC Sierra 1500 has its work cut out to stay class-competitive.

Still, the GMC Sierra 1500 has had adaptive cruise control in the AT4X trim since 2022, while the rest (including Denali) have conventional cruise control.

All Sierra 1500s from 2004 to 2021 had standard cruise control, Denali and AT4 included.

Sierra 1500 models from 2001 to 2003 only had the cruise control system in the upper trims.

#6 GMC Sierra 2500HD

Cruise control has been available only in the higher trims of GMC Sierra 2500HD since 2001, and the system is optional for the lower trims.

No Sierra 2500HD has the higher-spec adaptive cruise control, unfortunately.

#7 GMC Sierra 3500HD

Like the 2500HD, the GMC Sierra 3500HD has optional cruise control, with no variants or trims with the higher-spec adaptive cruise control.

GMC Electric Vehicle with Adaptive Cruise Control

#8 GMC Hummer EV

Besides the six-figure price tag potentially a deterrent, serious off-roaders will find many reasons to love the Hummer EV.

It has a potent, 1,000-horsepower electric powertrain with exceptional off-road prowess.

Adaptive cruise control is standard in all GMC Hummer EVs.
