Car Rentals with Teslas & Electric Cars (Total 8 EV Models)

Few car rental companies have Teslas and electric cars, and opting for an EV is subject to availability and location.

However, eco-conscious renters wanting to go electric can rent from these car rentals.

Car Rentals with Tesla Model 3

Avis

Avis is one of the largest car rentals in North America, and driving an all-electric Tesla is one rental way from becoming a reality.

While it doesn’t offer many Tesla models, the Model 3 will suffice for most EV renters.

Avis published these general specifications for its Tesla Model 3:

  • Five-seater, AC, automatic transmission, one large bag, two small bags.

Regardless of which recent model year you rent, Model 3s can achieve at least 260 miles with a full charge.

Budget

Like Avis, Budget only has the Tesla Model 3 in its fleet.

If you want to rent from Budget but desire another EV model, scroll down toward the end of this post.

Hertz

Hertz is one of the car rentals with the most electric car models, with Teslas and other EV models forming part of its extensive fleet – see the other electric cars towards the end of this post.

Tesla has several models, and the Model 3 is its cheapest, ensuring the lowest rental rate for a vehicle from the famous marque.

Hertz has two versions of the Model 3:

  • Tesla Model 3 Standard Range – five-seater, one large suitcase, two small suitcases, AC, 260-mile all-electric range.
  • Tesla Model 3 Extended Range – ditto, but it gets 358 miles of range.

If the Extended Range version is handy for your long-distance travels, you may wish to know about car rentals that allow out-of-state driving or Mexico border-crossing.

Car Rental with Tesla Model Y

Hertz

Model Y is a stylish electric SUV with a roomy interior, and it’s the second most affordable model in Tesla’s range.

For renters who desire this Tesla model, Hertz is the only car rental to carry the Model Y.

Hertz has these general specifications for the Model Y:

  • Five-seater, one large suitcase, one small suitcase, AC, dual airbags, ABS.

The Model Y can cover over 300 miles on a charge regardless of the model year (rpd). Plus, it has an all-wheel drive, ensuring extra traction and safer driving in slippery conditions.

Car Rental with Tesla Model S

Enterprise

Enterprise is the only company to offer the Tesla Model S for rental.

Although technical specifications aren’t available on Enterprise’s website, renters will be happy to know that the Model S has impressive range – over 400 miles – superb acceleration, and abundant cargo space.

It is the equivalent of a sports car in the EV world.

Car Rental with Tesla Model X

Enterprise

The Model X will satisfy Tesla seekers wishing to get behind the wheel of an ultra-powerful electric SUV.

Enterprise is the only car rental to provide the Tesla Model X, the priciest model in the marque’s lineup.

It seats five, goes nearly 350 miles on a full charge, and offers an all-around superior AWD driving experience.

Car Rentals with 4 Other Electric Cars

For those not after a Tesla, the following car rentals with other electric vehicles might appeal.

Avis

Besides the Tesla Model 3, Avis car rental has the Kia Niro EV, a more affordable electric car at comparatively lower daily rates.

Avis stated the following spec for the Kia EV:

  • Five-seater, AC, one large bag, two small bags.

Niro EV is an entry-level, small electric SUV. Still, its 200-plus-mile range will satisfy most needs, although only limited locations in States like California have the model.

Budget

Like Avis, Budget car rental has two electric cars:

  • Kia Niro EV – small electric SUV; five-seater; approx. 240 miles of range.
  • Tesla Model 3 – five-seater; at least 250 miles of range with the standard version.

Enterprise

Although no car rentals have many EV models in their fleet, Enterprise has arguably the most exciting offerings, with Tesla and non-Tesla models from which to choose.

Besides the Tesla Model S and Model X, customers can rent the Nissan Leaf and Polestar 2 from Enterprise:

  • Nissan Leaf – electric hatchback, five-seater, keyless entry, cruise control. Up to 200 miles of range, depending on the model year.
  • Polestar 2 – electric hatchback; at least 230 miles of range, depending on the model year.

Both are front-wheel-drive vehicles.

For renters after Tesla Model 3, the Polestar 2 is a capable alternative worth considering. It handles excellently, with quick acceleration and a stylish interior, providing a driving experience that rivals the more illustrious Tesla.

Hertz

Polestar 1 is a limited-production vehicle from Volvo’s in-house performance tuning arm turned EV range.

For renters who would love to try this stunning Polestar 1 coupe, Hertz is the only car rental that has this model.

It is a plug-in-hybrid all-wheel drive, capable of 52 miles of all-electric range before the combustion engine kicks in, achieving a 26-mpg average in hybrid mode.
