The following Chevrolet cars, SUVs, trucks, and EVs can perform remote engine start, although feature availability depends on the model year and trim level.
Do All Chevrolets Have Remote Start?
2007 was when the first Chevrolet (Tahoe SUV) had the remote engine start capability.
Most of the latest Chevrolet models now have available remote-start, either as standard or optional, although factory-spec, entry-level Chevy trucks still cannot perform the function.

Chevrolet Cars with Remote Start
#1 Chevy Spark
2022 was the final production year for the economical little hatchback.
Unfortunately for used Chevy Spark buyers, none of the hatchbacks have the ability to start their engines remotely.
#2 Chevy Camaro
The Hollywood-famous (yellow) Camaro is one of the best-driving muscle cars, matching pricier sports cars for considerably less.
When the Chevy Camaro returned in 2010 to kick-start its fifth generation, it gained optional remote-start in the LT and SS trims, although the base LS didn’t, an offering that remained for 2011.
2012 to 2015 Chevy Camaro coupes and convertibles pretty much maintained the status quo, with the LT, SS, ZL1, and Z/28 having available remote-start, while the LS did not.
The following year heralded the sixth generation’s arrival, as every Chevrolet Camaro model from 2016 to 2023 (LS, LT, LT1, SS, ZL1) sported the remote engine start feature, either as standard or optional.
The muscle car has athletic driving dynamics, but those wishing to use it daily may find the poor outward visibility a significant sticking point.
#3 Chevy Corvette
The Corvette offers supercar-like performance at a bargain, with impressive acceleration, steering, and handling that don’t compromise ride comfort.
Most sixth and seventh-generation Chevy Corvette (C6 and C7, respectively) cannot perform a remote engine start, except for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2018, and 2019 models.
The eight-gen C8 Corvette (2020 onwards) saw the remote start functionality become standard across the range.
Chevrolet SUVs with Remote Start
#4 Chevy Trax
The extra-small Trax is Chevrolet’s smallest crossover which debuted in 2015.
None of the base Chevy Trax LS from 2015 to 2019 had a remote start functionality, while the higher trim levels like LT, LTZ, and Premier did.
2020 to 2022 Chevy Trax crossovers gained standard remote-start for most models, except for the entry-level LS, where the feature was optional.
#5 Chevy Trailblazer
Like the diminutive Trax, Trailblazer is a subcompact crossover.
The remote engine start capability has been available in the second-gen 2021 to 2023 Chevy Trailblazer as standard for the higher-trims like LT, RS, and ACTIV, although L and LS lacked the feature.
None of the first-generation Trailblazers (2002 to 2009) can perform a remote engine start.
#6 Chevy Equinox
Moving up a size and into the small SUV class is the Chevrolet Equinox.
Chevy Equinox crossovers from 2008 to 2016 have had mixed remote-start offerings across the range: standard for the highest-trim LTZ, optional for LT, and absent from the base L and LS.
2017 to 2021 saw Premier taking over as the range-topping Chevy Equinox and gaining remote-start as standard, while the mid-tier LS and LT getting the feature as optional and the entry-level L without it.
Every Chevy Equinox SUV made in 2022 and 2023 has available remote-start, although the more affordable LS and LT still have the provision as optional equipment.
#7 Chevy Blazer
Chevy Blazer stands out in the midsize SUV class with excellent agility around turns.
Shoppers of used Chevy Blazer models made in 2019, 2020, and 2021 wanting the convenience of starting the engine remotely will need to choose either the 3LT, RS, or Premier, as the base L didn’t have the capability.
Most 2022 Chevy Blazer SUVs acquired standard remote-start, except for the 2LT with an optional provision.
Every 2023 Chevy Blazer gets a remote starter as standard equipment.
#8 Chevy Traverse
Midsize three-row SUVs are popular among larger families for their added seating capacity, and the Traverse SUV is one of them, albeit an average choice.
First-generation Chevy Traverse from 2009 to 2017 had available remote-start for most trim levels, except for the base LS.
As the next generation rolled around, the 2018 to 2023 Chevy Traverse still did not offer the remote engine start functionality in the base L and LS; however, most higher-spec LT, RS, Premier, and High Country can perform the function.
#9 Chevy Tahoe
Full-size SUVs are excellent family haulers that can seat up to nine passengers, and the Tahoe is a perfect example.
Used SUV buyers after a Chevrolet Tahoe that can start its engine remotely will need to opt for at least a third-generation model manufactured between 2007 and 2014 – specifically LTZ and Hybrid, as only some LT model years carried the provision as standard.
All fourth-gen Chevy Tahoe SUVs from 2015 to 2020 can perform the remote engine start function, including the base LS.
Similarly, every fifth-gen Chevy Tahoe of 2021 or later has the remote start feature.
#10 Chevy Suburban
Suburban is slightly larger than the Tahoe and arguably more impressive.
The Chevy Suburban shares many tech features with the similar-size sibling (Tahoe), with the vast majority of the SUV’s model years capable of the remote start function.
2008 was the first year Chevrolet Suburban gained available remote-start, while 2014 was when the feature became standard across every model.
Chevrolet Trucks with Remote Start
#11 Chevy Colorado
Several big names, including the Jeep Gladiator and Toyota Tacoma, fill the midsize truck segment. Still, Colorado is a popular choice.
Returning after a two-year absence, Chevy Colorado pickups of 2015 and 2016 had standard remote-start for the Z71 trim, optional for LT, and none for the entry-level Work Truck.
The remote-start feature offering remained relatively unchanged for the 2017 to 2022 Chevy Colorado, except for range-topper ZR2’s addition to the trim levels with a standard remote starter.
#12 Chevy Silverado 1500
Full-size light-duty trucks are America’s favorite vehicle for work and play, and the Silverado range counts among the most popular alongside challengers from Ford and Ram.
The second generation debuted in 2007 without remote-start, but the feature became available in the 2008 to 2013 Chevy Silverado, mostly as optional equipment, although a sizable number of the lower trims didn’t come with a remote starter.
Third-gen Chevrolet Silverado trucks (2014 to 2018) gained standard remote-start for the upper trims, optional for those in the mid-range, while the bare-bone Work Truck did without the feature.
The following generation saw more trim levels with the remote start capability than those without it, with most 2019 and newer Chevy Silverado pickups acquiring the ability to fire up the engine remotely.
None of the pre-2008 Silverado trucks can start their engines remotely.
Those interested in the heavy-duty Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD will be happy to know that these two heavyweights’ remote-start feature offering pretty much mirrors the Silverado 1500, except with fewer trim levels and customization options.

The Bolt hatchback provides brand loyalists with an affordable way to own an electric vehicle.
Crucially, every Chevrolet Bolt EV since 2017 comes with a standard remote start, a welcome provision across the range that makes decisions straightforward.
