Volvo Vehicles with Android Auto (9 Models: Full List)
Newer infotainment systems that feature high-resolution touchscreen displays and Android Auto are essential for the convenience, entertainment, and optimal enjoyment of modern cars.
The Volvo cars, SUVs, and electric vehicles in this post have Android Auto functionality, either wireless or wired.
Do All Volvos Have Android Auto & When Did They Get It?
The latest Volvo vehicles have Android Auto with the marque’s Google-based infotainment system.
Most Volvo cars and SUVs started getting Android Auto between 2018 and 2019, with the S90 sedan and XC60 and XC90 SUVs the earliest Volvos to get that smartphone functionality.
Wireless smartphone charging and voice recognition are integral to the newer infotainment systems.
Check the corresponding table to see when each Volvo below has Android Auto integration.
Meanwhile, drivers on iOS devices users may find the post on Volvos with Apple CarPlay useful.
Volvo Cars with Android Auto
#1 Volvo S60
The S60 is a stylish luxury compact sedan available with gasoline-only and mild hybrid powertrains.
Android Auto connectivity has been available in the Volvo S60 as standard from 2019 onwards.
Shoppers interested in a used Volvo S60 made in 2018 or earlier will be disappointed with the absence of Android Auto from the features list.
#2 Volvo S90
Available with a gas engine or plug-in hybrid powertrain for some all-electricity range, the S90 is a worthy challenger to the established midsize all-stars like the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, and Mercedes E-Class – all with iOS and Android smartphone compatibility.
Except for the second-generation 2017 model, all Volvo S90 sedans have Android Auto functionality as a standard feature.
#3 Volvo V60
Depending on the model year, a gas-only or plug-in-hybrid power plant is available in the V60 wagon.
Since the re-designed 2019 model debuted, the Volvo V60 wagon has had standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.
Volvo V60 variants made in 2018 and earlier did not support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
#4 Volvo V90
2022 was V90’s final production year in the US.
Despite modern cars typically having many tech features at this point, none of the Volvo V90 wagons support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
Volvo SUVs with Android Auto
#5 Volvo XC40
Competing in the luxury subcompact crossover class, the XC40 matches up well against rivals like the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes-Benz GLB with Android Auto in their latest releases.
When it debuted in 2019, the Volvo XC40 SUV had an excellent start feature-wise as it offered Android Auto as standard, so buyers need not choose.
Unfortunately, the XC40’s Android Auto functionality isn’t wireless yet.
#6 Volvo XC60 & XC60 Plug-In Hybrid
Powered by a gasoline-only or plug-in-hybrid powertrain, the XC60 is a competitive choice among premium small SUVs, with an elegant interior and roomy back seat.
Since its 2018 redesign and addition of a plug-in-hybrid variant, the Volvo XC60 has had Android Auto as standard, although the functionality remains a wired connection.
2017 and older Volvo XC60s did not support Android Auto.
#7 Volvo XC90 & XC90 Plug-In Hybrid
A gas-only or plug-in-hybrid engine powers this midsize three-row SUV, with the PHEV introduced in 2016.
Android Auto smartphone integration has been a standard feature in the Volvo XC90 and XC90 plug-in hybrid since 2018, though none has wireless connectivity.
2017 and older Volvo XC90s did not have Android Auto.
Volvo Electric Vehicles with Android Auto
#8 Volvo XC40 Recharge
The all-electric version of the XC40 extra-small SUV is the Swedish company’s first EV, and it’s fun to drive with quick acceleration.
It uses a new Google-based infotainment system, but Android Auto capability is still absent from the Volvo XC40, regardless of the model year.
The 2023 and newer Volvo XC40 electric SUVs began supporting Apple CarPlay as standard, but Android Auto remains missing from the features list.
#9 Volvo C40 Recharge
While older Volvos had the outgoing Sensus system, newer models sport the more-responsive Google-based infotainment system.
The C40 Recharge small electric SUV’s infotainment system runs on native Google software. Still, the Volvo C40 Recharge that debuted in 2022 had no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay support.
The 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge doesn’t have Android Auto (but it has Apple CarPlay).
