Honda Cars with Remote Start (8 Models: New & Used)
Remote start allows drivers to start the car’s engine from the comfort of their homes, cooling down or heating the vehicle ahead of time in sweltering afternoon heat or freezing morning cold.
The following Honda cars, SUVs, minivan, and trucks can start remotely, depending on the model year.
Do All Hondas Have Remote Start?
Most Honda models gained remote start capability in 2013.
However, fast forward to the present, and all but one (the HR-V) Honda vehicles have remote start functionality at every trim level.
For shoppers after a used Honda, check each Honda’s corresponding table to see which model years sport the convenience feature.
Honda Cars with Remote Start
#1 Honda Civic, Civic Si, & Civic Type R
The Honda Civic nameplate is synonymous with affordable yet sporty small sedans; higher-performance variants like the Civic Si and Civic Type R are available.
All Honda Civic models from 2023 onwards get standard remote start.
From 2016 to 2022, remote start is a standard provision for most Honda Civic trims like EX, EX-L, and Touring, with the LX having remote start as optional in 2018.
While 2013 and older versions lacked the functionality, 2014 and 2015 Honda Civics gained remote start as optional equipment in the HF, EX, and EX-L trims.
None of the Honda Civic Si model years had remote-start.
Unfortunately for speed enthusiasts, the Honda Civic Type R does not have the remote-start capability.
#2 Honda Accord & Accord Hybrid
The midsize sedan segment has several big names, such as Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, and Honda Accord.
Several Honda Accords made in 2013, 2015, and 2016 can perform remote start, including the LX, Sport, and EX-L, depending on the model year.
As the sedan’s offerings continued to improve, most 2017 to 2021 Honda Accord trims, like the EX, EX-L, and Touring, had standard remote start; Sport and LX had an optional remote start, but the feature is model year-specific.
Most 2022 Honda Accord models have remote-start but not the base LX.
The Honda Accord Hybrid gets improved offerings over the regular model, with 2014 and 2015 versions having an optional remote start, while the 2017 and newer Accord Hybrids gained standard remote start across the range.
Honda SUVs with Remote Start
#3 Honda HR-V
Honda HR-V is the Japanese carmaker’s smallest crossover.
Since its 2016 to 2021 model years, the subcompact Honda HR-V has had an optional remote start at most trim levels, including the EX, EX-L, and Sport; remote start availability in the base LX spanned from 2019 to 2021.
Buyers of the 2022 Honda HR-V will be delighted with remote start as standard equipment.
Most 2023 Honda HR-V crossovers have remote start, except for the base LX.
#4 Honda CR-V & CR-V Hybrid
The small SUV class has many strong picks, and the Honda CR-V is one of them.
Most Honda CR-V crossovers made between 2013 and 2016 had remote-start, including EX, EX-L, and Touring.
From 2017 to 2022, most Honda CR-V models had remote start functionality, except for the base LX.
2023 saw remote start become standard across every Honda CR-V.
Older CR-Vs made in 2012 or earlier cannot start remotely.
Remote start capability is standard across every Honda CR-V Hybrid, regardless of the model year.
While the CR-V is a solid choice, several other small SUVs with remote engine start are compelling alternatives worth considering.
#5 Honda Passport
Honda SUV shoppers needing more space than the compact CR-V can offer should consider the midsize two-row Passport.
Remote start has been a standard feature for the Honda Passport since the third-gen’s 2019 debut, which includes the base Sport or EX-L, depending on the production year.
#6 Honda Pilot
This three-row midsize is Honda’s largest SUV.
From 2013 to 2015, most Honda Pilot SUVs had remote-start, including EX, EX-L, and Touring.
The following year saw the feature becoming standard; most 2016 to 2021 Honda Pilot models, including the EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite trims, had remote-start, leaving only the base LX without it.
2022 and newer Honda Pilots can perform remote start, regardless of the trim level.
Honda Minivan with Remote Start
#7 Honda Odyssey
Minivans are excellent family haulers, and the Honda Odyssey is a compelling choice with eight seats and stable handling.
Except for 2014, most 2013 to 2017 Honda Odyssey minivans had remote start functionality, with the base LX the sole exception.
Honda Odyssey models from 2018 to 2022 had remote start functionality, except for the starter-trim LX.
Remote start became standard for every Honda Odyssey from 2023 onwards.

Unlike most trucks, the midsize Ridgeline has a unibody construction, which gives the pickup a superior ride quality.
Since the second generation’s debut, most 2017 to 2019 Honda Ridgeline pickups had remote start capability, except for the entry-level RT.
